Reach a Hand Uganda
Reach a Hand Uganda is a youth centered Non Governmental Organization founded in Uganda in 2011 on the premise to empower young people 10 – 24 years with the information, skills and capacity to make informed life choices. With a keen focus on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, RAHU has built vast experience over it’s 10 years of implementation to deliver innovative programming for young people in 43 urban, peri-urban and rural communities of Uganda.
RAHU’s target audience consists of in and out of school young people particularly; adolescent girls (including teen mothers) and young women, young people living with disabilities, young people living with HIV and young refugees in urban and rural settings.
RAHU’s key strategy of engagement centers around the peer education approach that includes; peer led information dissemination, strengthening of referral mechanisms for quality service provision, communication across (mainstream and digital media) platforms, youth led advocacy and youth movement building.
RAHU’s youth centered approach is exhibited in the inclusion of young people at different levels of SRHR information access, linkage to service provision and the continued attempt for a conducive environment for their SRH Rights to thrive.
As such, RAHU strives to meet young people’s needs wherever they are – in communities, schools, homes, places of business and trade and across various mainstream, digital and tech platforms.
